Supreme Maintenance Organization (SMO) is very proud to announce that Rookie Haywood, SMO Team Member, has received the 2022 Building Service Employee of the Year Award from Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI). Rookie was presented the prestigious award during the Keynote Session of the annual BSCAI Contracting Success Conference on November 15, 2023. The event was held at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, NV.

Each year, BSCAI receives numerous nominations for this award. Those nominations come from Building Service Contractors across the world. The BSCAI selection criteria includes demonstrated job performance, community service, family commitment, and qualities that are exemplified within the most highly valued cleaning service employees. A Career of Outstanding Performance

Rookie joined SMO in May of 1999. During his 24 years of service with the company, Rookie has provided SMO clients with outstanding service. His career has been characterized by a strong work ethic, a commitment to excellent service, personal integrity, dependability, and loyalty. These traits have been invaluable assets to SMO as well as to the SMO clients that Rookie has served.

Rookie is a SMO floor care guru, but beyond his Floor Tech duties, he has volunteered to cover cleaning positions, delivered supplies, repaired equipment, and helped with anything else SMO needs. Rookie has also volunteered to travel across three states many times to help get the job done.

Rookie's performance has been recognized several times throughout his career at SMO. He has won several iCare Awards, Team Member of the Month, and the J.D. Murphy Team Member of the Year in 2003. These awards, combined with numerous other recognitions, bear strong testament to Rookie's commitment to go above and beyond in his service to his company and its clients.

A Genuine Commitment to Family and Community

Rookie's family is his heart and soul. While working two jobs for decades, Rookie and his wife, Clara, raised three daughters and a son. They now enjoy spending time with their children and four grandchildren. Rookie has also spent many active years serving his church. When he isn't working or spending time with the grands, he spends his time gardening and shares the delicious vegetables he grows with his family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

In Their Own Words

When asked what it meant to win the award, Rookie said, “It has been a highlight of my career. I am so thankful to God to win this award. My Grandfather taught me to not be afraid of hard work and I have always tried to live by that motto. Winning this award is a real honor for me. I am thankful for the opportunity to work for such an amazing company as Supreme Maintenance Organization.”

Diana Wilson, VP of Business Development, recently had this to say about Rookie, “He has become a friend and a father figure to many of our Team Members. His loyalty to SMO and his teammates is second to none. His sense of integrity has driven him to report any issue that needs to be corrected. Rookie believes in honest work and checks back with our customers to make sure they are happy. If they are not, he does not walk away until they are satisfied, and we all know that can sometimes be a challenge.”

Congratulations Rookie. We are all very blessed to have you as part of the SMO Family.
