Supreme Maintenance Organization (SMO) is very proud to announce that Marlene Lash, SMO Team Member, has received the 2019 Building Service Employee of the Year Award from BSCAI. She was presented the prestigious award during the opening session of the annual BSCAI Contracting Success Conference this past November. The event was held in Las Vegas, NV.

Each year, BSCAI receives numerous nominations for this award. Those nominations come from BSC's all across the county. The BSCAI selection criteria includes: demonstrated job performance, community service and family commitment; the qualities that are exemplified within the most highly-valued cleaning service employees.

A Career of Outstanding Performance

Marlene joined SMO in 1995. During her 25 years with the company she has provided SMO clients with outstanding service. Her career has been characterized by a strong work ethic, a commitment to excellence, personal integrity and loyalty. These traits have been invaluable assets to SMO as well as to the SMO clients that Marlene has served.

Marlene's work has been recognized several times during her career. In 2018 she won the first Georgia Pacific Take Notice Award. She has also been recognized as the SMO J.D. Murphy Team Member of the Year. These awards, combined with numerous other recognitions, bear strong testament to Marlene's commitment to go above and beyond in her service to her company and her clients.

A Genuine Commitment to Community

For Marlene, "commitment to community" is more than just a catchphrase. She has a long history of putting words into action. Marlene has worked tirelessly to support various charitable organizations within the Greensboro, NC area. Just a sampling of those would include:

  • Poplar Grove AME Church
  • The Salvation Army
  • Under the Bridge
  • Anointed Vessel of Poplar Grove AME

Marlene's hands-on contributions to her community have included: performance management, fund raising, event planning, serving food to the homeless and distribution of supplies to homeless shelters.

In Their Own Words

When asked what it meant to win the award, Marlene said, “It means the world to me. I am so thankful to God to win this award. Being nominated and chosen from so many hard-working building service professionals is a real honor. I am thankful for the opportunity to work for such an amazing company as Supreme Maintenance Organization.”

David Murphy and Gary Collins, co-founders of SMO, are both proud of Marlene's receipt of the award and express their sincere gratitude for the service she has provided to SMO. They both agree that Marlene's attitude toward life and God are reflected in the joy she derives from serving her customers. Gary Collins, Vice-President of SMO, noted that "Marlene delivers excellent service with a smile. Her customers treat her like family because of the love, care and concern that she puts into everything she does. We are very blessed to have a person like Marlene representing our company!"
